Eddy-Current & Pressure Testing Campaign: Offshore Gas Compression Vessels.
Giko Engineering Limited was engaged by V-Ships Offshore/STAC Marine to carry out a Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) and pressure integrity verification program aboard FPSO Mayo ABO, covering the vessels and gas system components of the MGC-B and MGC-C gas compression packages. The objective was to confirm the structural and pressure integrity of critical assets operating continuously under harsh offshore marine conditions.
The scope of work spanned 20 assets in total, using three complementary testing methods: Eddy-Current Testing (ECT) to screen welds and heat-affected zones for surface and sub-surface defects, Hydrostatic Pressure Testing with a sustained 60-minute hold, and Atmospheric Water Leak Testing to verify seal integrity under static head. All inspections and pressure tests were carried out and documented in strict accordance with EN ISO 5817/ISO 17635, ASME BPVC Section VIII Division 1, and API 510.
What We Delivered
Eddy-Current Testing
Eddy-Current Testing (ECT) on all 20 assets, screening welds and heat-affected zones for surface and sub-surface breaking defects.
Hydrostatic Pressure Testing
Hydrostatic Pressure Testing on 15 vessels, each sustained at test pressure for a full 60-minute hold.
Atmospheric Water Leak Testing
Atmospheric Water Leak Testing on 5 additional vessels, verifying seal integrity under static head.
